Crude stop! Why Nigeria’s oil production remains stuck

What does it take to become an expert at something? According to world-renowned author Malcolm Gladwell, it takes 10,000 hours of intensive practice to achieve mastery of complex skills. This isn't true in all cases because there are definitely outliers (Outliers is also the book's name), but I certainly agree that practice makes us better.

Usually, the more time you spend on a skill or a task, the better you become at it. From here, you can, more or less, make a name for yourself based on the expertise you have built. This Friday marks 61 years since Nigeria gained independence, and for over 40 of them, Nigeria's "expertise" has been in oil production.
