You know when you already have a good idea about something, but someone comes and articulates it so well that it changes how you once saw it? 

It tends to happen with me when I get good data. 

For example, everyone knows that Nigeria’s economy is in a rough place. However, the GDP number of -2% from 2020 does not really say much. In fact, it paints a picture that things might not be that bad. And then you get better data. You’re told that food inflation is at 20%, which means that prices double every three years. 

That hits closer to home. 

It’s the same with how everyone knows that the North is generally poorer than the Southern region of Nigeria. That’s understood. But when you hear that 90% of people living in Taraba, Sokoto, and Jigawa are living in poverty (₦11,200 a month), compared with only 4.5% in
