Two things that are good about Nigeria

Exactly two months ago, I wrote an article titled, “Two reasons why Nigeria doesn’t work (Part I).” Since it was published, people have persuaded me to complete the next part. Each week, I ask the newsroom what I should write about, and the replies have been the same since February, “the part II of why Nigeria doesn’t work.” 

At the end of March, I finally tried to do it, but I ended up writing about the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)—surprise, surprise. The objective was to talk about inconsistent policies as one reason Nigeria doesn’t work. The CBN had just provided a perfect example with the exchange rate, so I focused on them instead of Nigeria as a whole. 

This week, I asked around for story ideas again, and even my friends asked for “the part II for that story you wrote.” It is not that the article was as
