Stears Open Data is a non-profit initiative within Stears, a leading financial data provider for global funds and corporates investing in Africa.

Formed in February 2024 with support from Luminate, our lean team builds on Stears’ decade-long expertise in producing high-quality data and insights on Africa’s critical challenges. In 2019, Stears created Nigeria’s first live election results map and accurately predicted the 2023 election outcome. Today, we are expanding our work across the continent to address Africa’s most pressing development issues.

We aim to empower thought leaders, change-makers, and engaged citizens with the data they need to drive meaningful progress. Our impact is measured through the use and references of our data, as well as stories of how it has shaped understanding, influenced decisions, and inspired action.
